Amy Carmichael

Amy Carmichael

Born in 1867 in Millisle on the northern coast of Ireland,
Amy Beatrice Carmichael landed in southern India at the age of 27 where she would,
by God’s grace, establish the Dohnavur Fellowship;
a work focused on creating a home and family for children
who had neither and who were often in danger.

In God's providence,
Amy spent most of the last 20 years of her life in chronic pain,
confined to her room at Dohnavur.
Her poetry is drawn from deep wells of service and suffering and worship and sacrifice
testifying to the grace and faithfulness and sufficiency of God in all things,
for His glory.

Amy remained in India, without furlough, until her death in 1951.
The work of the Dohnavur Fellowship continues to this day.
